YAAS: Safety Pin Jewelry

If you want to learn about the original conception and mission of this program, read my What is YAAS? post. TL;DR: It's a weekly group for youth age 14+ where we do community service work, library programs, host guest presenters, and make connections with peers in a safe and welcoming environment.

Originally, tonight's arts and crafts program was simple. Make safety pin art with beads, and then attach it to a key ring, necklace, or bracelet. I was ready with a few packages of seed beads and some safety pins, and it would have been a fine program. Even, dare I say, fun.

HOWEVER, my library received an unexpected and very timely supply donation this week. Someone in our community donated six shoe box-size containers filled with beads and beading accessories, all separated by color. Most of the products were still in the package! It was a wonderful donation that turned our little safety pin jewelry program in to a big! exciting! make-anything-out-of-all-these-cool-beads program!
